I'm not necessarily looking for a 'job done, complete success' story - charities are great at sharing their experiences of challenges faced along the way, and it's this which can prove particularly valuable. If you think you might fit this bill - or know someone that does - then please let me know.

Charity Learning Award Winners 2012https://learningandskillsgroup.ning.com/groups/notforprofit/forum/topics/charity-learning-award-winners-20122012-11-20T15:57:10.000Z2012-11-20T15:57:10.000ZSusie Finchhttps://learningandskillsgroup.ning.com/members/SusieFinch

I thought that this would be of interest to the group:

A list of the Charity Learning Award winners 2012 is on Training Journal:

http://www.trainingjournal.com/news/articles-news-clc-announce-winners-of-charity-awards/

More information about the individual awards, and why they won, is on the Charity Learning website: http://www.charitylearning.org/news-events/news/inspirational-charities-win-top-elearning-awards/

With more about the RNLI's Award for Best Overall Programme on AskGrapevineHR http://www2.askgrapevine.com/news/hr/article/2012-11-16-rnli-recognised-for-online-learning-programme/

And for those interested in news coming out of the Charity Learning Conference last week see the LearnPatch website, created by well known L&D journalist Martin Couzins:

http://learnpatch.com/ or use the twitter hashtag #clcconf12 to catch up!

Whilst you're on Twitter, you could also see the tweets from todays Skills Third Sector conference - use the hashtag #charityskillsconference

Great news for L&D in the third sectorhttps://learningandskillsgroup.ning.com/groups/notforprofit/forum/topics/great-news-for-l-d-in-the-third-sector2012-10-17T17:11:02.000Z2012-10-17T17:11:02.000ZSusie Finchhttps://learningandskillsgroup.ning.com/members/SusieFinch

I'm sure that you will have seen the announcement of Dame Mary Marsh being appointed to lead a review of Leadership & Skills in the third sector. I work in a large charity (5k permanent staff+50k volunteers) who are geographically spread.

We have a PDR process, MD programmes, an organisation strategy, a competency framework, and which all learning/training/development is linked to. We have a fairly robust technological platform, and have therefore exploited this to get a huge amount of elearning on to people's desks, as well as running f2f events, coaching, library etc - ie the blend. We have an intranet where there is loads of "information" on our offerings. However this is hardly ever the first place people go to find out or prefer to find out what they need. We've done the occasional roadshow and other planned communication to launch new stuff. But the biggest challenge is that people still need help because they don't know what they need or how to get it.

I have been tasked with coming up with a kind of journey map/guide which would help someone (new or been here years) find their way through the training maze. Is it just a telephone number? is it a brochure (must not be out of date before it gets to your audience though!) or a simpler intranet page AND... it ought to be something that can be produced and provided "off line" because not all our staff by any means have access to or want to use a pc....?

Anyone ever done anything similar, got a top tip or seen a good example of this in practice?

Top tips for blending our learning programmeshttps://learningandskillsgroup.ning.com/groups/notforprofit/forum/topics/top-tips-for-blending-our2010-08-11T15:50:35.000Z2010-08-11T15:50:35.000ZJoanna Higginsonhttps://learningandskillsgroup.ning.com/members/JoannaHigginson

'You are what you share, not what you know'. So what top tips do you have to share? What blends have you tried that worked? ...and didn't work?! Why? What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?

This discussion of for sharing what we know about blended our learning programmes, but if you want to share your experiences of something else with us (and I'm sure there are lots of other things we could share) then feel free to start a new discussion.
