Today we have all the technical tools we need in order to create, maintain and deliver mobile learning activities in this multinational company. With a newly implemented LMS/LCMS/Authoring tool there are no longer any technical barriers. All our IT and HR strategies are “sponsoring” the implementation of mobile learning as well. However, I am quite sure that there are a whole lot of potential pitfalls that could easily be avoided if we just knew about them. Which, I have the feeling we don’t, in this fairly new area for us. I am looking for high-level “do's and don'ts”, experiences from someone that has been in a similar situation. Case studies, forums or articles – all are of interest.
If you haven't already done so, I would encourage you undertake a thorough look into what browsers and devices your learners will be accessing materials on. Even with the most modern LMS/authoring tools there are still challenges with certain devices and browsers and knowing in advance what your users are accessing learning on will help you shape what you can and cannot achieve.
An extension of this is considering developing in both flash and HTML5, to ensure wider coverage across devices.
The other fundamental is to remember the difference between developing for mobile/tablet to developing for desktop/laptop. User behaviour is often very different, from graphics and visuals to user interactions. Careful consideration should be given during the module design to these differences and how to accommodate them.

Anyway, it's not an exhaustive list by any means but you might find some of it helpful.
One issue that may arise is how to deal effectively with mobile video. If you're using video as part of your learning and development efforts, you'll want to be able to make sure that staff can watch the videos back if they're on-the-go and using a mobile device. This can present some specific challenges, including file size limits, issues with network speed and compatibility.

I have a related question. Apologies if it feels like I'm hijacking this post Ulf; if it doesn't exactly fit here - I'll create a new post if necessary.
What I'm interested in finding out is the technicalities of providing mobile content on a smartphone that can be accessed without having to go through an LMS and can also be called up without internet connection. I'm assuming the answer would be that the content would have to sit on our intranet (somewhere?) but then be able to be downloaded to the smartphone, when the employee is internet enabled?
My reason for asking is that it's all well and good creating mobile content but if employees are out and about, with little or no 3g/4g/wi-fi and want just in time help; then the mobile content will fall flat!
The do's and don't here are very good, but I'd also like to find out about the technicalities to deliver mobile content effetively.
