Event Description

Getting smarter at driving your own learning (and how to help others to do the same)
Mirjam Neelen, Learning Experience Design Lead, Accenture

As a learning professional, you probably know that self-directed and self-regulated learning skills are important for all people, especially in a time where we need to be lifelong learners to have a job today and be ready for the future. But how about you? How are you driving your own continuous learning and what do you do to get better at it? Learning professionals have a critical role to play. If we want to support people to become better at driving their own learning, we need to set an example ourselves first (apart from the fact we want to stay in the game!). Do you know what it takes to drive your own learning? There's quite a lot to it but of course as learning professionals we don't shy away from putting effort in our own learning. Right?

  • What are self-directed and self-regulated learning?
  • Why are self-directed and self-regulated learning important?
  • What does the research tell us about how professionals approach their own learning?
  • What can you do to get better at it over time?
  • How can you help others to get better?
