Getting smarter at driving your own learning (and how to help others to do the same)
Mirjam Neelen, Learning Experience Design Lead, Accenture
As a learning professional, you probably know that self-directed and self-regulated learning skills are important for all people, especially in a time where we need to be lifelong learners to have a job today and be ready for the future. But how about you? How are you driving your own continuous learning and what do you do to get better at it? Learning professionals have a critical role to play. If we want to support people to become better at driving their own learning, we need to set an example ourselves first (apart from the fact we want to stay in the game!). Do you know what it takes to drive your own learning? There's quite a lot to it but of course as learning professionals we don't shy away from putting effort in our own learning. Right?
Mirjam Neelen is a Learning Advisory Manager with over 10 years of industry experience, working at a wide variety of companies. In her current role, she is responsible for strategic definition of learning experiences working with clients and other Accenture learning teams across Accenture’s various business entities globally. Mirjam is a proud advocate for evidence-informed approaches to learning design and has a collaborative blog with Paul A. Kirschner on https://3starlearningexperiences.wordpress.com/. Together, they have recently completed a book on evidence-informed learning experience design (official publication date: Feb 2020). She presents about her work regularly.
She has completed an MSc in Learning Sciences, an MA in Psycholinguistics and a BA in Speech Therapy.
