What progress have you made since Jan 2010?

What have you implemented/started progressing since LT10 in Jan 2010?I have created a small Ning site for a small group of project team members in order to provide them with a collaborative environment to work.I am attempting to convince my IT Security group to lift their carpet ban on social networking sites.I am reviewing collaborative learning platforms to then take to my organisation.... what have you been up to?

  • Hi Craig,

I have been using Ning outside of my workplace for a while, but since Jan 2010, we have purchased a Dot Net Nuke add-on for our LMS which includes social networking and more collaborative power.

This also means that we are looking at some of our training requirements and planning to utilse the new toys (I mean tools!). Starting small - hoping to test the waters and expand.

Looking forward to the future and the value that social media will bring to our work.

  • Hi,

We now have 3 laptops with Adobe Captivate installed ready to be loaned to subject experts in a bid to improve the speed of the developemnt cycle and add to our capacity as a development team. The first one went out this morning so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the experiment works and the laptops don't end up on ebay!

  • Hi Craig,

I've been doing a lot of stuff with the new corporate microblogging tools like Yammer and Socialcast. Just from our brief experiments we saw valuable connections being made across the business that wouldn't have happened otherwise. Similarly information was able to flow between groups that are usually disconnected.

These sorts of interactions can bring immense value to a business that has grown by adding dozens of individual silos. We just need to balance that with the potential risk that exists when you allow thousands of people to share knowledge in a free and open way...

Sounds like we're having similar discussions!
