Moodle HTTPS login

Hi All

Has anybody implemented https on login page of moodle? Does it have some advantages? As I saw many universities are using SSL on login page but do not know why is it important to have https only on login page? Could anybody please put light on this topic?

    This was the first thing that we implemented!

    It keeps usernames and passwords secure, and this is absolutely vital. If you don't have this activated on your installation of Moodle (unless it's a test installation with throwaway usernames and passwords), go away and do it now!

    Hi Muhammad

    I`m pretty sure that the only reason is to get a cryptated username and password and it´s therefore safer against hackers.

    I dont think the rest of the comminications with the database is cryptated. I´m not 100% sure.
