Learning data: taking control and making it work for you

Ben Betts, CEO, HT2

Shouldn’t learners be able to access their own data? After all, hospital patients want the right to own their healthcare records. Consumers want to own their credit records. Why shouldn’t learners have the same thing? Your learning data is one of the most important pieces of information that can be associated with you. You need to own and control it.Today we're experiencing a 'perfect storm' of trend convergence. Data privacy, the increase in popularity of online learning (think MOOCs) and the TinCan API have all come together to deliver a dramatic increase in the amount of learning data that is being created. In this webinar we will explore some of the potential uses that ownership of your learning data provide and look forward to a future of possibilities where learning analytics help people from all walks of life fulfil their potential.

  • Why owning your learning data is so important
  • The organisational benefits of encouraging learners to own their data
  • The dramatic impact of the TinCan API (xAPI)
  • Putting learning data to use in the real-world
  • How new open-source initiatives around learning data impact yo
