It's all about the data

In the age of computing, data has slowly but surely taken over the world. Businesses have been built on it, we are more aware of our personal data than ever before, fishing is no longer just a relaxing hobby and data now even comes in BIG and small varieties.
But what about learning data? SCORM 1.2 has been the de-facto tracking standard in eLearning for as long as many of us have been in the industry. What happened to 1.3? What happened to 2004!? Joking aside, data is one area of learning technology that has huge potential to change the industry for good.
Join Ian Blackburn as he explores:
  • the history of data use in learning
  • what kind of data could we be collecting?
  • how could better data serve your L&D needs?
  • new possibilities of data collection
  • the role of the Learning Records Store

Ian has been working with data and analytics for close to 10 years, starting life as a reporting analyst for a large financial firm. Following this, a move into AI and automation helped nurture a desire to push boundaries with data, which ultimately led to connecting with Ben Betts at HT2 labs and the Learning Locker LRS. Outside of the learning space Ian is a keen Liverpool F.C fan and can be easily distracted by discussions of the latest matches.

Making personalized, collaborative learning a reality
Joel Hellermark, CEO & Founder, Sana Labs

Collaboration and personalisation are two trends that dominate contemporary thinking about workplace learning.

Collaborative learning involves synchronous, interactive live sessions with groups of learners, and is powered by social dynamics and community.

Personalization focuses on self-paced instruction that responds to the unique needs of every learner, and is powered and scaled by AI.

Is it possible to combine these two? According to Joel it is. In this session, he will explore what it means to combine these two approaches in entirely new ways—using social dynamics to increase engagement while responding to each learner’s needs to improve learning outcomes. Join us to explore the exciting possibilities of personalized, collaborative learning.
